Katieng Waterfall
About
Katieng Waterfall is a popular natural attraction located approximately 7 kilometers north of Banlung in Ratanakiri province, set within secondary forest along a tributary of the Tonle San river. The main fall drops around 10 meters over a broad basalt ledge into a wide pool below, and the surrounding flat rocks provide natural sunbathing platforms and jumping points for swimmers during the wetter months. Local food and drink stalls operate near the entrance, and the site sees a steady stream of both domestic tourists and international visitors combining it with nearby crater lakes and other Ratanakiri waterfalls. A short forest trail from the parking area leads to the fall through vegetation where large trees provide shade and birds are commonly heard in the canopy above.
