Cha Ong Waterfall
About
Cha Ong Waterfall is one of the most distinctive waterfalls in Ratanakiri province, located about 3 kilometers from Banlung town and easily combined with other nearby natural attractions in a half-day excursion. The fall cascades down a curved rock face into a shallow pool at the base, and the most unusual feature of the site is that the overhanging rock creates a natural alcove behind the curtain of falling water that visitors can walk into, standing behind the fall with the water rushing down in front of them. The surrounding vegetation is dense tropical forest with mosses and ferns clinging to the wet rock surfaces around the fall. The constant spray keeps the microclimate cool and fresh even during the dry season when the water volume is lower.
