Virachey National Park
About
Virachey National Park is one of the largest and most biodiverse protected areas in Cambodia, covering approximately 3,325 square kilometers of remote highland rainforest in Ratanakiri and Stung Treng provinces along the borders with Laos and Vietnam. The park contains some of the most pristine and least disturbed primary forest remaining in mainland Southeast Asia, sheltering rare and endangered species including tigers, sun bears, clouded leopards, Asian elephants, gibbons, and hundreds of bird species. There are no roads into the park interior, making all access dependent on multi-day guided treks arranged through the park ranger station in Banlung. Trekking expeditions range from three to ten days, following river valleys and forest trails through landscapes of extraordinary untouched wilderness rarely experienced by visitors to Cambodia.
