Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center
About
Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center is the largest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility in Cambodia, located about 45 kilometers south of Phnom Penh within a protected forest reserve covering over 23,000 hectares. The center is managed by the Cambodian government in partnership with the Wildlife Alliance organization and houses hundreds of rescued animals confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade and other sources of harm, including sun bears, moon bears, tigers, leopards, gibbons, orangutans, slow lorises, pangolins, and numerous bird species. The Walk with Giants program allows visitors to accompany animal keepers on their morning feeding rounds with the bears and gibbons through the forest. All proceeds directly fund the care of resident animals and enforcement operations against wildlife trafficking throughout Cambodia.
