Sisowath Quay
About
Sisowath Quay is the sweeping riverside promenade that runs along the western bank of the Tonle Sap river in central Phnom Penh, stretching from the Royal Palace gardens north toward the Japanese Friendship Bridge. The boulevard is the social heart of the city, lined with colonial-era buildings, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and open-air bars that animate the waterfront at all hours. In the evening, a lively night market sets up along the quay, and local families occupy the riverside park for picnics, badminton games, and fitness walks. The confluence of the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers is visible from the northern end, and the quay offers excellent views across the water toward Koh Pich island and the distant Cambodian countryside.
