Siem Reap Old Market (Psar Chas)

Siem Reap's Old Market, known locally as Psar Chas, is a covered market at the center of the old quarter that has been trading since at least the early 20th century and remains the most atmospheric shopping destination in the city. The iron-roofed hall and surrounding lanes are packed with stalls selling fresh tropical fruits and vegetables, fragrant Cambodian spices, fresh fish, silks, kramas, carved wooden handicrafts, stone Buddha figurines, silver jewelry, and vintage Cambodian stamps and coins. The market blends daily provisioning for local residents with souvenir shopping for visitors, giving it a genuinely mixed character that separates it from purpose-built tourist markets. Numerous small Khmer and Western restaurants and juice stalls operate along the perimeter.
