Kep National Park
About
Kep National Park is a compact forested hill reserve covering approximately 50 square kilometers directly behind Kep town, offering a refreshing jungle retreat just minutes from the seafront. A network of well-marked walking trails totaling around 8 kilometers loops through the hilly forest interior, passing through dense mixed deciduous woodland home to macaques, hornbills, and a diverse array of butterflies and reptiles. The most popular trail, the Sunset Loop, climbs through the canopy to open viewpoints looking south over the Gulf of Thailand and the offshore islands. Tree ferns, orchids, and pitcher plants grow along the shadier trail sections. The park is particularly pleasant in the early morning when bird activity is at its peak and the forest fills with calls before the midday heat sets in.
