Bokor National Park
About
Bokor National Park is a protected highland wilderness in Kampot province, encompassing approximately 1,580 square kilometers of the Elephant Mountains on the southwestern tip of Cambodia. Elevations reach over 1,000 meters, creating a cool, frequently misty microclimate entirely different from the lowland heat. The park shelters significant biodiversity including elephants, leopards, sun bears, gibbons, and hundreds of bird species across its montane forests. Key attractions include panoramic cliff-edge viewpoints over the Gulf of Thailand, Popokvil Waterfall, Black Lake, and the ruins of the abandoned French hill station. A paved road constructed in 2012 made the summit accessible by car for the first time, opening the park to far wider visitation than previously possible.
